Mike, Laura, Ron, Jen, Eric, and Bea.

I wanted to tell you that I was very sad to hear the news of your Mom’s passing. She will be missed.

I have only seen Mary Ellen a couple of times since we moved away in the mid 70’s, so most of my memories are all from that era. She was a strong woman with a beautiful smile - and I can still hear her laugh.

Thinking about her last night – she would have been in her late 20’s or early 30’s when we lived in Ohio. That realization came as quite a shock to me since, at the time, all of our parents seemed so old. Now, that seems so young - and it explains my perception of her with this unlimited amount of positive energy.

As a kid, she made me feel like we were all on the same team, and that we had an ally in her. It wasn’t Kids vs. Parents like it seemed with everyone else.

I’ll never forget that blue pick-up truck she drove us all around in – at top speed. She loved to drive – whether it was to sell corn in some far away city (I still don’t know where that was!- near one of your relatives) or to drive us up that big hill to the mall. She always had some great idea that required us to drive somewhere. Fantastic.

I also remember how she loved her cocker spaniels.

Your Mom had a huge impact on my life and I am happy for all of the great memories she left with me.

Please know that I am thinking of you, and that I share your feelings of loss.

Mike, Laura, Ron, Jen, Eric and Bee –
My prayers are with you in this time of loss.

I have such fond memories of your Mom. She was always there for all us kids (you and friends). From early morning swimming lessons in a freezing lake, fairgrounds clean up crew, riding in the bed of her pick-up; she always had a smile and a loving infectious laugh. She gave advice and guidance without preaching; she was the one I called to bail me out (literally!). I am thankful that God put her in my life. I celebrate her life for all that she gave to me and all those that knew her!
