ROOTSTOWN – Maxine A. “Mickey” Rinehart, age 89, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 29, 2023 at Brentwood Health Care Center after a period of declining health. George, her loving husband of over 63 years, was at her side as she went home to be with the Lord.
Maxine was born October 3, 1933 in McKinley Township, Emmet County, Michigan to the late Archie and Esther (Kaufman) Ball. After graduating from Pickford HS, she began her studies at Asbury College in Kentucky, receiving a Bachelor in Education in 1959. She met her husband George at Asbury, and they were married after graduation in June. Maxine has been a resident of Rootstown for over 50 years.
Maxine spent more than a decade as a teaching assistant and playground supervisor for Rootstown Elementary school, & over 30 years as a Superintendent for the Domestic Sewing Department at the Portage County Randolph Fair. She was an avid homemaker & enjoyed gardening around the house along with sewing & quilting. Maxine did countless alterations for friends and neighbors who needed something to fit just right for that upcoming event. She was a member of the Rootstown United Methodist Church for 21 years until joining the founding of Community Bible Church, where she remained a member for almost 40 years. She actively participated in church functions and dinners.
Maxine is preceded in death by her parents, siblings and her grandson Zachary Rinehart.
Survivors include her husband George Rinehart, Sons John & Philip Rinehart, Daughter Ruth (Denny) Pickens; 5 grandchildren, Michael Pickens, Heather{(Joe) Svidron} Pickens, Ashleigh Pickens, Madison Rinehart & Ethan Rinehart; 3 great- grandchildren, Adaline, Lauren and Emily Svidron.
A Celebration of life service will be held at Community Bible Church, 3671 Tallmadge Rd. in Rootstown on Saturday February 18th. Visitation with the family will be from 10-11:30AM with the service beginning at 11:30AM. Interment will be in Homeland Cemetery. No graveside services will be held.
