Nate was born in Carroll County, Virginia, on October 14, 1926, to parents Ingram “Ing” and Minnie (Hanks) Alexander. He enjoyed hunting, trapping, and fishing, as well as working with his father and brothers in the sawmill and lumber business. His work experience eventually brought him to Kent to work at the Williams Brothers flour mill downtown in 1958.
Nate was a member of the Kent Assembly of God Church, aka Christian Life Center. He eventually was employed by Massey Ferguson and then Hudson Schools. He enjoyed time with his family, gardening, and boarding horses. He also built and sold wood burning stoves.
Nate’s wife of 58 years, Evelyn, and son, Wade Alexander, both predeceased him.
He is survived by his daughter, Kay Alexander Dennis, along with his 5 grandchildren, Pat Dennis, Paul Dennis, PJ Dennis, along with Trevor Alexander and Lindsay Alexander Schwalm. He also has 8 great grandchildren.
Nate was interred in a private ceremony at Grandview Cemetery mausoleum in Ravenna Township, Ohio. A celebration of life will follow in the spring.
Nate's family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Mulberry Gardens Memory Care and Gentiva Hospice for the compassionate care and support given to Nate and our family over the last 3 years.
In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations in Nate’s name to a veteran's charity of your choice.
