Nora Mae (Petty) Calvin

She was born August 21, 1929, in Ravenna, Ohio, to parents George and Dorothy (Carter) Petty. Nora graduated from Ravenna City High School in 1947. After her children were raised, Nora went to work for the City of Ravenna Water Department until her retirement on January 31, 2003.

She was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Nora was an avid Cleveland Indians fan and enjoyed going out to eat, especially with her local “Breakfast Club.” Above all, Nora was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and later great and great-great grandmother.

Nora is survived by her children: Gary (Jo) Calvin, Jeffrey (Judy) Calvin, Dennis Calvin, and Pam Calvin, her 7 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Nora was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James Calvin, her second husband Harry “Stub” Bower, and her siblings: Ethel Bloomer, George William Petty, Edith Janice Petty, Milton Turner, John “Jack” Petty, Emma “Connie” Petty, and Joyce McFrederick.

Friends and family will be received Wednesday, January 3, 2024, from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna. Friends may also call on Thursday, January 4th, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, 170 N Freedom St., Ravenna, with a funeral service celebrated by Reverend Dan Caruso at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Park.
