She was born January 8, 1946, in Cleveland, Ohio, to parents Walter and Marie Joy (Rupert) Strimpel. Norma was a free spirit who enjoyed life, and lived it the way that she wanted. She had several occupations throughout her life, including: limo driver, bus driver, pastry chef, and waitress. Norma also had a knack for finding four leaf clovers, collecting over 2,500 in a single year.
Norma is survived by her children: Jim Savarino, Jeannette (James Caruth) Savarino, and J.P. She is also survived by her longtime companion Brad Pontius; her grandchildren: Justin (Kristy) Savarino, Jonathan Whetsell, Sara (Josh) Kerr, Courtney Caruth, and Cody Caruth; her great-grandchildren: LeeAnn Kerr and Tyler Savarino; her brother Ted Rupert; and her sisters Cathy Peddicord, Mary Sromek, and Ruthe Herbster.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Arleen Strimpel, and her brother Victor “Benny” Rupert.
Norma’s wishes for cremation are being honored. Friends and family will be received Thursday, March 15, 2018, from 6:00 – 7:00 PM with a memorial service following at 7:00 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna.
