It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Pearl Guy Winters, a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend, who entered into eternal peace on February 14, 2025. Pearl, formerly from Deerfield, Ohio, was a vibrant soul who truly lived life to its fullest, embodying the spirited essence her name evokes.
Pearl was as rare and beautiful as her name. Born with a fiery spirit, Pearl was a force of nature, who poured her energy and passion into everything she did. As a child, her love for horses and dogs became the cornerstone of her character, nurturing a deep bond with nature and the creatures around her. Her heart was just as expansive as her reach; she traveled extensively, sharing the richness of her Native American heritage with people across the country. Pearl didn’t just educate; she inspired countless individuals with her passion and dedication to her Native American culture.
An extraordinary horsewoman, Pearl was a proud member of Top Hands Drill Team. She participated in the 2010 Olympic Games where she demonstrated Native American bridleless riding. Through every twist and turn of her journey, she remained a dynamic presence in the equestrian community. Her enthusiasm for gardening mirrored her spirit—for she nurtured life not only in the soil but also in the hearts of those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Pearl's love for dogs epitomized her loyalty and companionship. She treated her canine friends as family, providing them with a loving home that echoed her kind and unprecedented spirit. Pearl was often seen with a fluffy small dog in her arms everywhere she went.
Pearl’s contagious laughter, passion for learning, and unwavering love for her family continue to inspire those who knew her.
Pearl is survived by her husband Jeffrey Winters, her parents Frank and Gerri Guy, her children Anthony Bruce, Isabeau Walleen, Christopher (Ashley) Avery, Tina (Mike) Edgell, and Tommy (Sarah) Groves along with siblings: brothers Frank Guy Jr, James Guy, Scott Guy, sisters Vickey Dean, Joann (Richard) Titsworth, along with grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pearl was preceded in death by her mother Geraldine Shopmeyer and her brother-in-law Gregory Dean.
Though Pearl is no longer with us in person, her spirit will forever grip our hearts. A celebration of life will be held at New Testament Baptist Church, 3583 State Route 59 in Ravenna, on March 8, 2025, at 11 am, where we will gather to honor the incredible woman that Pearl embodied—brave, fearless, and ever-loving. This celebration of life will be officiated by Reverend Robert Burgess.
We will always cherish Pearl, her indomitable spirit forever shining bright in our memories.
