Rebecca was born April 3, 1955 in Youngstown, Ohio to parents Fredrick H. Rider of Struthers, Ohio and Phyllis J. (Faulkner) Rider of Boardman, Ohio.
Rebecca was a “Certified Behavior Consultant and Professional Dog Trainer” and loved working with animals. She spent many years volunteering with 4-H and the Pet PALS program. She worked closely with Rose’s Rescue, assisting with foster care for many dogs and rehabilitation behavior training to improve their adoption rates. Additionally, she shared her own dogs with many through her work with Therapy Dogs International and Hattie Larlham. She helped foster and train many service dogs for both Assistance Dogs of America and Pilot Dogs Incorporated.
Rebecca was retired as a court reporter/stenographer after enjoying a 30 plus year career in the Portage County Common Pleas Court and a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church in Ravenna. Rebecca had a loving and compassionate heart. She was incredibly selfless, helping any person or creature that she could along the way with no thought of her own needs. She was a person who asked for nothing in return but only wanted to help others to make their days and lives better. She was the smile that people looked to for warmth and comfort.
Rebecca is survived by her husband Robert Park, whom she married in Niles, Ohio on September 27, 1975, and her children: David Park of Rootstown, Jonathan Park of Rootstown, and Rachel Park of Rootstown, who is currently attending The Ohio State University. Surviving also is her mother Phyllis Jean Rider of Austintown, Ohio and her brothers: Fred (Carol) Rider of Stafford, Virginia and Jim (Cathy) Rider of Woodbridge, Virginia. Rebecca will also be sadly missed by her loving dogs; Java and Mocha.
Rebecca was preceded in death by her father, Fredrick H. Rider.
