Richard was born October 11, 1937, in rural southern Indiana, where his family operated a country store, raised row crops, dairy cattle, and other livestock.
The first from his family to attend college, Richard received a Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Education from Purdue University and taught Vocational Agriculture for several years. Later he returned to Purdue to earn Masters and PhD Degrees in Counseling and Student Personnel Management. These degrees served as a springboard to a career at Kent State University where he retired as Vice President for Student Services.
Richard enjoyed keeping up with changes in agricultural practices, traveling, and raising and exhibiting horses with his wife Nancy.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents Letzler and Gertrude Bredemeier of Lookout, Indiana, and his brother David W. Bredemeier of Celina, Ohio. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 60 years, Nancy I. Bredemeier, nephew Steven Bredemeier of Bexley, Ohio, and niece Angela Mcloughlin of Celina, Ohio.
