He was born October 24, 1962, in Ravenna, Ohio, to parents Carol "June" (Clark) and Herbert Loftin Sr. Richie graduated from Ravenna High School in 1981 and was a standout linebacker on the football field and continued to play at Kent State University.
Richie took over the family business and was the owner and operator of FABET Waste for many years. Richie was a hard worker, often having a half a day’s work in before most people are awake. Even after retirement he continued to work and started Rich's Roll Off.
While he worked hard, Richie also knew how to play hard too. To say he loved music is an understatement, including trips to Las Vegas to see his favorite singers in concert Rod Stewart and Kenny Chesney. Richie also enjoyed riding his Harley which included an adventurous ride to Nashville with his wife Renee' and good friend Tia, but mostly enjoyed riding looking for Blue Birds and Bald Eagles. Richard was an avid Steeler fan, and also enjoyed fishing and golfing. Richie was always the best dressed on the golf course and often would wear an outfit that would make Payne Stewart blush.
Richie kept a tight circle of friends, but could chat up anyone, whenever his garage door was open, it was a signal to come on in and enjoy music, conversation, and a few cold beverages, and if the garage was closed Richie was probably watching reruns of The Andy Griffith Show.
Richie truly enjoyed life. Most of all, was his deep love for his wife Renee'(Albright) Loftin. They hit it off right away and married May 27, 2000 at Immaculate Conception Church. The couple was nearly inseparable, creating many memorable adventures throughout their 35 years together.
In addition to Renee', Richard is survived by his siblings: Leigh (Lauren) Loftin, Susan (Anthony) Johnson, Jennifer (John) Miller, Melanie Loftin, Herbert "Larry" Loftin Jr., Debra Loftin, as well as brothers and sisters-in-law: Beverly Goethals, Linda Trautman, Dennis (Joanne) Albright, Eileen (Randy) Coleman, Larry (Lucille) Albright, Mary (Roy) West, Kathleen (Mark) Banas, James Albright (Karlo), last but not least his cat Buttercup, along with many extended family members and friends.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his mother and father-in-law Fern and Ronald Albright, his brothers -in-law: Roger Boykin, Michael Goethals, and Craig Trautman, his nephews: Roger and Tony Boykin, his cousins Dru Fullum and Chris Loftin, and his dear friends Darrell Stephens and John Drago.
Richie's wife would like to extend her heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff of UH Portage Seidman Cancer Center and Dr. Rehman Richie truly loved each and every one of them, and good friend Tia Castaldi.
This amazing man who loved life and truly cared about others will be sadly missed and fondly remembered.
