Robert Lee Hedrick

Robert "Bob" Hedrick passed away on July 26, 2026 surrounded by his family after a short battle with cancer. Bob was born on June 20, 1946, in Sellersville, Pennsylvania, to Eugene and Dorothy Hedrick.

Bob is survived by his wife of 57 years, Roberta, children son Michael (wife Meagan, granddaughters Mackenzie and Sydney) and daughter Shannon (husband Eric and granddaughters Grace and Tessa). He is also survived by his sister Pat Hunsicker and many beloved extended family members. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Les Hedrick.

Bob graduated from Bluffton College in 1968 and then served in the US Army for 2 years. After his military service ended, he worked for Goodyear Aerospace and eventually retired from Lockheed Martin in 2004. In retirement, Bob found time to do things he loved like riding his bike, playing tennis, traveling with his wife to see friends and family, playing cards and attending as many grandchildren activities as possible.

Bob was an active member at Rootstown Church of Hope, participating in many church activities, various committees and was Treasurer for over 40 years. He was a man of service not only at his church but also in the community. He was involved with a multi church backpack ministry, served at Hospice of Portage County, was a standardized patient at NE Ohio Medical University, as well as a former Southeast School Board Member, Hot Stove Youth baseball coach and a member of the Edinburg Zoning Commission and so much more.

Bob loved people well, especially his four granddaughters. Papa was a title he cherished. He continued to make time for each of his granddaughters up until the day he passed. Bob will be known for his abundant generosity and care of others. He knew how to listen well. Bob was a confident man and could command a room wherever he went but he also always made people feel important and loved. His legacy will live on not only with his family but all the lives he touched along his journey on this earth. Bob reflected the love of Christ in how he lived and so many lives have been changed because of it. Bob is now rejoicing in glory with his Savior and Heavenly Father.

Friends and family will be received on Friday, July 31, 2026, from 4:00 -7:00 pm at Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E Main St, Ravenna, OH 44266. There will also be a visitation on Saturday, August 1, 2026, from 12:30-1:30 pm with his funeral service officiated by Pastor Charles Naylor at 1:30 pm at Rootstown Church of Hope 4065 St Rt 44, Rootstown, OH. Interment will follow at Edinburg Cemetery.
