

He was born March 21, 1924, in Wayland, Ohio, a son of the late Hayden and Mary (Kropp) Williams. Robert was a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather and great-grandfather. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in 1980 and was a decorated veteran of the US Army serving in WWII. Mr. Williams enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening, chopping wood, or tending to his lawn.
Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife Merle E. “Snooks” Williams on March 17, 2007 and his son Rod A. Williams on December 2, 1994. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Philip Williams and Paul Carson.
He is survived by his sons: Mark (Marian) Williams of Florida and Joel (Marcy) Williams of Uniontown; daughters: Jill Williams of Windham and Holly (Daniel) King of Suffield; sisters: Gladys Youngblood of Pennsylvania and Winifred Slabaugh of Ravenna; as well as 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place, and friends will be received an hour prior to the 11:00 AM memorial service held on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery with military honors.
