Roland F. Peterson

Pete graduated from Norfolk County Agricultural High School in Walpole, MA. Immediately after graduation he went to work for a local yard and lumber company, then in 1956 he enlisted in the Army. He served until 1959, when he received an Honorable Discharge.

In 1960, Pete was employed by Mike Slates, Inc. as an auto parts salesman. He left in 1978 to open his own auto parts business in Ravenna: P & M Auto Parts. The business transitioned into a Bumper-to-Bumper franchise before finally becoming a NAPA franchise. He sold his business and retired in 1998.

Pete had a master diver certification through Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI). He was a volunteer member of the Portage County Sheriff’s Department Dive Rescue recovery team for several years.

Pete is survived by Mary Ellen Peterson, his wife of 64 years, two daughters, Katherine Sprowls and Kristine Lynch, and his son Keith Peterson and daughter-in-law Dicle Turkoglu. He is also survived by his three grandchildren: Ela and Nar Peterson, and Noah Sprowls, and brother Richard Peterson. He leaves behind many nephews, nieces, and cousins as well.

Family will receive friends to Celebrate his Life on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna from 4-6 pm. Inurnment at Maple Grove Cemetery will be held at a later date.

Memorial donations can be made in his name to a favorite charity and would be appreciated by his family.
