Ron was born on September 18, 1947 at Robinson Memorial Hospital, Ravenna, Ohio to Joseph and Sophie (Vich) Dubinsky. Ronald married Diana (Lentz) on December 20, 1985. They purchased a small farm in Atwater, OH and lived there for many years with their 2 daughters Emily and Elizabeth Dubinsky.
Ron enjoyed the outdoors – boating, fishing, and riding dirt bikes with his brother, close friends and family. He took his family on excursions to boat on the Ohio River, Lake Milton and Salt Fork. A favorite pastime was taking the family to Bucket Hill and camping in the Airstream or “Silver Bullet” as it was renamed. The “Dirt Express” is a memorable highlight, carrying kids, cousins and friends to see Christmas lights or camping. Ron coached girls’ softball and engaged in town politics serving on the Atwater Township Zoning Board and eventually, the Board of Appeals.
Ron enlisted in the US Air Force on August 24th, 1965. A Sargent, Jet Engine Mechanic, Ron was honorably discharged on Feb. 1, 1968. His service time includes a year in Vietnam. He graduated from Kent State University with a degree in Education and taught for a short time at Maplewood JVS and Rootstown before taking a position with the City of Ravenna in their water treatment facility. Ron rose to the rank of Maintenance Supervisor, in charge of all mechanical operations.
Ron retired after 33 years of service to spend time on his farm and be with his family. He enjoyed gardening vegetables and flowers. Ron also taught various K1-12 classes at Ravenna City Schools and Maplewood Vocational School as a substitute. A real “tuff” guy with a heart of gold.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents, nephew Jason Drumheller, niece Jessica Riemenschneider and grandson Jason Dubinsky.
He leaves his wife Diana; daughter Emily (Paul Williamson) Dubinsky and 4 grandchildren: Owen, Olivia, Otto and Onola; daughter Elizabeth/Jenny Dubinsky; God daughter: Monica (Dubinsky) King; Brother: Stevan Dubinsky and Sisters: Susan Drumheller, Sandra (Russ) Eastep and Pamela (Michael) Gillen and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of Ron’s Life will be held on Saturday July 16, 2022, from 1pm to 4pm at the American Legion, Ravenna, OH. All friends, relatives and loved ones are encouraged to attend. Memorial Service, officiated by Pastor Joel Cochran, will begin at 3:30pm.
