He was born to parents Harry and Bessie Wise on August 22, 1932. He was a lifelong member of the Randolph United Methodist Church. Russ was dearly loved as a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
As a child, Russ began working alongside his older brothers; Charlie, Rich and Bob at their father’s Chevrolet dealership in Randolph. He would remain there for almost the rest of his life, eventually becoming General Manager and President of the company. He was an active member of the Randolph Fire Department for many years and served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean War.
Following his return from the service, Russ resumed work as a mechanic at the dealership and, in his “off hours”, owned and operated a trucking business as well, performing repairs for the H.H. Miller and H.M. Miller construction companies. His passion however was Wise Chevrolet and soon devoted himself full time to the dealership. He had a very strong work ethic and was able to instill that ethic in his sons, who always tried to live up to the example he set.
On March 3, 1956, he married the love of his life, Mary (Anderson) Wise and they remained madly in love with each other until he took his last breath. Russ is survived by his son Rusty (Pam), daughter-in-law Yvonne, brother Charlie (Sue), grandchildren Dane Wise (Andrea), Danielle Sams (Tom), Deidre Floyd (Brett), as well as five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son Donald and brothers Richard and Robert.
Due to the corona virus restrictions, private funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 3rd followed by interment at Hillside Cemetery in Randolph. The family will announce at a later date a Celebration of Life to be held in his memory.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Randolph United Methodist Church or Hospice of the Western Reserve, whose superb care and assistance is greatly appreciated by his family.
