Shirley M. Boyle Herndon

Shirley was born in Kent, Ohio on May 12, 1932 to parents Joseph and Pearl Boyle. Shirley had been a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved watching the birds outside her window, feeding the squirrels and chipmunks, reading and completing crossword puzzles. Shirley so enjoyed her daily conversations with her sisters. Most of all Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family.

Shirley is survived by her husband of 58 years, Robert Herndon. She also leaves her daughters: Valerie (Frank) Vitarella and Vicki (Lee) Lehman. Surviving also are her grandchildren: Robert Vitarella, Matthew (Megan) Vitarella, Lauren Lehman, Brittany Lehman and great-grandchildren: Maria & Emma Vitarella and Jayden & Mason Vyse. Left to cherish her memory are her sisters: Eileen (Richard) Braybon, Ruth Ann Crawford and many loving nieces and nephews.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her son Brian Herndon and her brothers: Roy, Robert, Lawrence and Oscar Boyle.

Family will receive friends at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, on Thursday, July 9, 2015 from 11:00AM until the 1:00PM funeral service officiated by Pastor Laurie Metzko. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to all of the nurses and staffs of Kent Healthcare Center and Harbor Light Hospice for the wonderful, compassionate care given to Shirley.
