He was born on September 8, 1995, in Alliance, Ohio. Steven graduated from Waterloo High School in 2014 and later from Kent State University.
Steve loved being outdoors. He was an Eagle Scout and enjoyed hiking, kayaking, or simply lying in his hammock. Even though he was colorblind, Steve liked the challenge of putting puzzles together. He loved traveling for concerts, trying every pizza place he could find, and ranking Mountain Dew releases.
Steve is survived by his wife, Tessa Gilliland, his beloved cat Eggbert, and many friends and members of his chosen family who loved him deeply.
