Suellyn Truax

Suellyn Truax, 55, of Ravenna, Ohio, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 after a courageous battle with Leukemia. She joins her parents, David L. Truax and Catherine (Simpson) Truax, also of Ravenna, Ohio, who predeceased her.

She was born in Ravenna, Ohio on December 17, 1961. She is a 1980 graduate of Ravenna High School and a 1984 graduate of William Jennings Bryan College in Dayton, Tennessee.

Suellyn was the owner of Carriage House Gallery in Ravenna, Ohio, where she enjoyed sharing her time and framing talents with her many customers. She served two separate terms on the Ravenna Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. She served as Vice-President of the Board in 1997 and President of the Board in 1998. She received the Ravens Citizen of the Year Award in 2000 for her work with the Chamber and community. While on the Board she served on the Ravens Award Committee and was in charge of the Chamber Golf Outing for two years. She also served as a member of the Ravenna Rotary, Heritage Society, and Merchants Group, where she served on various committees.

She was also employed at Linnea’s Cake and Candy Supplies of Kent, Ohio, where she enjoyed working in client services.

In past years she enjoyed being active in Grace Church (formerly New Milford Baptist Church) Rootstown, Ohio, and the Chapel in Akron, where she was active in the Young Professional ABF. She enjoyed spending time with friends, being outdoors, camping, biking, white water rafting and walking on the beach.

Suellyn is survived by her sister, Delora Truax Grim (Dave); niece, Makayla Grim, and nephew, Kyle Grim, all of Green, Ohio; aunt, Kathleen Simpson, of Fairfield, Illinois; and numerous cousins and close friends.

Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 East Main Street, Ravenna, Ohio 44266, with the funeral service immediately following at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Park.
