

Vaughn Robert Esch, 82, of Strongsville, Ohio, passed away January 2, 2017, at Southwest General Hospital’s Residential Hospice Center following complications related to dementia. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Helen Esch. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Beverly (McGirr) Esch, son Christopher of Strongsville, daughter-in-law Leanne (Sater) Esch; daughter Amanda (Esch) Loudin of Ellicott City, Md., son-in-law Todd Loudin; and five grandchildren: Brad, Greg, Caeden, Adam, and Audrey.
Vaughn was born June 5, 1934, in Akron, Ohio, and grew up in Kent. He graduated from Kent State University in 1960 where he was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa, and served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1955 to 1956. He married Beverly in 1958 and after several years in Kent, the couple relocated to Ravenna with their children. They remained a part of the Ravenna community for close to 40 years.
Vaughn spent his career in the housing industry, first as owner of Kent Homes (home builders) and Chrisman Apartments, and later as broker/owner of Vaughn Esch and Associates Realty. He retired in 1996 and enjoyed many years at the family’s home on Muzzy Lake. He was a member of the Ravenna First United Methodist Church and later the Strongsville United Methodist Church.
Friends and family will be received Saturday, January 7, 2017, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, with funeral services following at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Donald Lare officiating. Interment will follow at Standing Rock Cemetery in Kent.
