She was born May 19, 1914, in Ravenna, Ohio, to parents Richard and Ethel (Thomas) Visher.
Virginia was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church of Ravenna. She and her husband traveled through every state in the country, across Canada, and throughout Europe, making several visits to family members in England. Virginia taught in the Ravenna School System for over 25 years.
On July 30, 1939, she married her beloved Frank E. Mills, and together they raised their two daughters, Sandy and Patti. Sadly, Frank passed away on April 19, 2011. She was also preceded by her parents, her brother Victor Visher, her son-in-law Al Verschoot, and her cousin Branton Horton.
Virginia is survived by her sister Helen Jean Haney of Florida, her children: Sandy Verschoot of Montana and Patti (John) Valentine of Cuyahoga Falls; grandchildren: Laurie (Eric) Sutphin, Michael (Monica) Lewis, Melissa (Bill) Hilbrunner, Malinda (Mike) Gibson, Marc (April) Lewis; step-grandchildren: Jon (Kim) Valentine and Heather Valentine; and her dear cousins, including Kathi Horton. Virginia also leaves behind her 17 great-grandchildren to cherish her memory: Jacinta (Sam), Calysta (Jeff), Marlaina, Mitchell, Mason, Allyson, Carlie, William, Malorie, Meagan, Marcus, Tyler, Deion, Cory, Parker, Ethan, and Quinn.
The family would like to thank Dorothy Jones, a longtime neighbor and caregiver for her continued support with Virginia’s care.
A private family service will be held at this time with a celebration of Virginia’s life to take place on a later date. Her final resting place will be beside her husband at Maple Grove Cemetery.
