She was born January 3, 1932, in Akron, Ohio, to parents Sebastian and Elizabeth (Hobler) Botz. Vivian worked as a hairdresser for many years. She was a member of the Community Bible Church in Rootstown.
Vivian was a talented musician and deeply spiritual person. She starting playing piano and keyboard at an early age and was in several bands with her father. Later, while living in North Palm Beach, Florida, she met her future husband, James Back, and they formed a band called the Moonlighters. They also spread the Gospel through their ministry at nursing homes and to the homeless.
Vivian is survived by her devoted husband James Back, her children Jeff Skeen, Greg (Sandy) Skeen, David (Marcie) Back, Andrew Back, her sister Doris Engler, her brother Sebastian (Joyce) Botz, along with many loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, her son James Skeen, her brother Joseph Botz, and her sisters Jeanette Kehner and Elizabeth Wiland.
Friends and family will be received Thursday, June 8, 2023, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM with a funeral service officiated by Pastor Scott Hindel at 11:00 AM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Randolph.
