He was born February 7, 1934, in Avon, Ohio, a son of the late Joseph F. and Marie A. (TeLinde) Conroy, Sr. Bill was an office manager and retired from Warren Roofing in Walton Hills. He was an active member of Immaculate Conception Parish and a deeply spiritual person becoming a member of the Franciscan Third Order. Bill was proud of his volunteer work with the AIDS ministry in Akron and a lifelong Cleveland Indians and Browns fan. He was a great cook and enjoyed traveling and spending time with his grandchildren and his dogs.
He is survived by Kathleen (Calvey) Conroy; his sons: Paul (Michelle) Conroy of Lakewood, Philip (Eileen) Conroy of Cleveland, Andrew Conroy of Cleveland, David (Aimee) Conroy of Rootstown; grandchildren: Gabrielle, Lilian, Jacob, Alex, Owen, and Ethan. Bill is also survived by his siblings: Robert (Marion) Conroy of Sandusky, Marie “Marge” Gannon of Largo, Florida, Brother Richard Conroy, SJ. of Detroit, Charles “Tom” (Lanny) Conroy of Lakewood; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brothers Joseph Jr., Edward, Gerald, Lawrence, and Leo, and his sisters Alice, Lenore, Rita, and Rosemary.
Family and friends will be received Tuesday, May 31, 2011, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend John-Michael Lavelle at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Church, 409 W. Main St., Ravenna. Final resting place will be St. Mary Cemetery after cremation.
