Mrs. Banes was born December 4, 1937 to Mr. and Mrs. H.C. Mullen in Terry, MS.
She grew up in Terry. She attended Hinds Jr. College and graduated from Pearl High School. She met her best friend and the love of her life, Buddy Banes. They were married on November 27, 1953. They began their life together in Jackson, MS, and then in moved to Raymond in 1973. They then built their home to start their new life in the country that they both loved very much.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H.C. Mullen and her brother H.C.. (Buck) Carroll.
Mrs. Banes was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a good friend to many. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Raymond. She loved spending time with her grandkids and especially her great grandchildren. She enjoyed reading sewing, cross-stitching, crocheting and making quilts.
She was a very talented lady. Sewing, quilting, and cross-stitching were only a few of her many talents. She made many of the clothes that we wore as children, and made many for her granddaughters. One of her favorite hobbies was making quilts. They all were so pretty, different, and unique. Each was a piece of art and a part of her heart. She had a beautiful voice and she shined each and every time she sang.
Mrs. Banes was survived by her husband, of over sixty years, Buddy Banes. She had two daughters; Cindy (Pat) Smith and Laurie (Tim) Boatner. Her grandchildren were Michelle (Jerry) Miller, Chris Vaughn, Eric (Valerie) May, Brittany (Ronnie) Cook, and Dana Smith. Her great-grandchildren were Kaleb Frazier, Adalyn Anita-Clair May, Chance and Autumn Miller, and Madison and Nicholas Cook along with several nieces and nephews.
We would also like to say a very heart filled thank you to Mona Silcox (sitter for Mama) for her love and help with Mama, everyone at Camellia Hospice Ministries. A special thank you to James, Allison, Chris and Loretta, for the great care that they gave to Mama during her last months.
