Mary Elizabeth known her whole life as “Libby” to her family and friends was born the first child of four to her parents, Myrtis Julia (Martin) Anderson and William Luther Anderson in Utica, MS.
Miss Libby graduated the high school in Raymond and then attended clerical classes at Hinds Jr. College. Miss Libby married Marion Toom Lick her sweetheart and childhood neighbor after he returned from his US military service overseas. Her career as a data entry operator allowed her to work for the State of MS, Magna American Corp. and Hinds Community College until her retirement in 1996.
She and her husband made their family home in Raymond raising 3 children. She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Marion T. Lick, her mother and father and younger brother, Kenneth Anderson. She is survived by one daughter, Paula (Lick) Duren; two sons, Larry W. Lick and Charles D. Lick, daughter-in-law Cindy (Breakfield) Lick; five grandchildren, Mandy (Duren) Kelly, Drew Lick, Staci Lick, Erin Lick, Kari Lick, and Melanie Anderson; and 2 great-grandsons, Aidan and Andrew Kelly and finally two brothers, William Donald Anderson and W. L. Anderson; one niece, Teresa (Anderson) Woodfine of Baton Rouge, Bill Anderson, Jr. & Greg Anderson of Atlanta, GA and grand-nieces & nephew.
Mrs. Lick was a long time member of Raymond United Methodist Church. She was talented in needle crafts, sewing, quilting & crochet. Mrs. Lick enjoyed supporting her children, and grandchildren at each of their individual school activities; attending baseball, basketball & football games, dances performances, piano recitals, & graduations. Mrs. Lick invited her family to spend holidays and vacations at home for food and fellowship throughout her life hosting such a gathering recently the weekend before Christmas. Mrs. Lick loved to plant flowers and tend her gardens. Her favorite pastime of late was watching the many hummingbirds that visited her feeders year long and caring for her beloved companion, “Ci-Ci”, an 8 yr. old Pomeranian. This amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother will be sorely missed by all that knew her.
