Wallace McCager Wall

Services for Wallace M. Wall, 83, of Raymond, MS, who died Monday, April 29, 2013, will be at held at 10:00a.m., Thursday, May 2, at the Raymond United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mike Sahler officiating. Burial will follow at the Raymond Cemetery under the direction of Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5p.m. – 7p.m., Wednesday, May 1, at the Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Raymond located on Hinds Blvd.

Mr. Wall was born August 24, 1929, in Newton County, the son of McCager Bower “Dock” Wall and Mary Horne Wall. He was a graduate of Newton High School, East Central Junior College and Mississippi State University. He received a Master’s degree from Mississippi State University and taught Engineering Graphics at Hinds Junior College. While at Hinds, he was the sponsor of the Engineering Club and a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers. He introduced the curriculum of Technical Education at Hinds Junior College.

In 1974, Mr. Wall was named the Assistant Engineer for the Hinds County Road Department. He was very successful in completing many federal and state aid projects for Hinds County. In fact, many of the bridges and roads in Hinds County today are his designs.

Mr. Wall was a longtime member of the Raymond United Methodist Church. He served as chairperson of the Finance Committee; The Men’s Club, The Board of Trustees and taught Sunday School. He was an avid hunter and gardener.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Evelyn Wall Myers; two brothers, Pat and Dock Wall; and son-in-law, Dale Owens.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Edith Gary Wall; son, Kendall Wall of Pinehurst, North Carolina; daughter, Kay Wall Owens of Arlington, Texas; and a number of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
