Rita Catherine Watkins

Mrs. Rita C. Watkins, age 94, of Terrace Park Ohio, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 5 2016. She was born on October 24th, 1921 and raised in Lockland, Ohio daughter of Andrew and Margaret Smith. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She had the most caring and generous heart and touched many lives with her presence. Her true love was writing and poetry. She was gifted to express with words our deepest thoughts and feelings. Rita had a delightful wit and sense of humor. She was deeply devoted to her faith (and the Cincinnati Reds)! She is preceded in death by her brothers Vincent E. Smith and Andrew G. Smith, Jr., and sisters Mary Wilking and Elizabeth Welling. She will be deeply missed by her surviving family which includes her husband Dr. George J. Watkins, her children: Chris A. Watkins (Gina), Rita Watkins Maurer, MD (Tom), and Joe Watkins (Patti): as well as her grandchildren Michael, Katie, Lindsay and Grace. She is also survived by numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass 10AM Saturday, July 9, 2016 at St. Xavier Church, 607 Sycamore St. Cincinnati, Ohio 45202 with a reception to follow at the church.
