

Sister Rose Anna (Jeanette Gertrude) VonderHaar, a Sister of Notre Dame de Namur, died on Friday morning, March 18, at the age of 103 in the 83rd year of her religious life. She was born in Cincinnati OH on October 21, 1907, and is preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Anna (Huels) and her sisters, Sister Mary Celine VonderHaar, SNDdeN, Anna Mae Ryan, Rosalie Albers, and Clara Strefelt. She is survived by her niece Maureen Markgraff. Sister Rose Anna lived a long richly active life. She taught in Illinois elementary schools in Utica, Chicago, Calument City and at St. George School in Cincinnati. She served as principal of Notre Dame High School in Chicago and Julienne High School in Dayton OH. She was General Treasurer for the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur in Rome, Italy, and performed secretarial duties at Mt. Notre Dame High School in Cincinnati, the Cincinnati Archdiocesan Office, and the Mount Notre Dame Health Center. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, March 23 from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. at Mt. Notre Dame Health Center, 699 E. Columbia Avenue (513-821-7448), followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 3:00 p.m. Interment will take place immediately after Mass.
