Sister Helen Patricia to Sister Pat....what's in a name anyway?
Sister Pat remained a friend long after my 8 years at Saint Paul's and my high school years.
As a young unwed mother, Sister Pat never turned her back or shamed me for not being married at that time. Instead she praised me for making the decision to continue my pregnancy. She offered many prays for the birth of my first son at 17. She was excited that my son's father and I married before his arrival. Sister Pat continued to be a part of my life with the birth of sons two and three.
When Sister Pat was teaching in Dayton, my sister and I visited her often. We always enjoyed a good meal and a smooth drink over several hours of "catch-up" time. She loved to reminisce about the good old days at Saint Paul's.
Sister Pat could not stop herself when I introduced my granddaughters, who attended Mount Notre Dame high school, to the activity I, their grandmother, created in the classroom. She glowed and laughed and to my surprise remembered it all!
Thank you for you gift of giving to so many children. Sister Pat, you'll be missed.
Barbara (Kesterman) Macke.

Aunt Pat was a loving and sweet person. She devoted herself to god and educated many youth through her 30 year career in education. I loved to visit with her about teaching and education as I am a teacher as well. She always had excellent stories about growing up with my grandfather and about her youth. She will truly be missed by all.
