It is with heartfelt sorrow and a cherished love that we announce the passing of our beloved grandmother (aka Nana), great grandmother, great great grandmother and dear friend, whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of everyone she met. Ms. Agnes Snead entered abiding rest peacefully, surrounded by family on November 15, 2025, at the age of 101, leaving a legacy of love, resilience, and compassion.
Born on January 10, 1924, as the youngest child, Agnes Marie to her late parents Reverend Ernest L. and Florence Myers Davis in Reading, PA where she primarily called home till, she was 90 years of age before moving to Lansdowne to stay with her oldest granddaughter.
Agnes’s father was called to pastor Washington Street Presbyterian church. She grew up with a deep reverence to the Lord with her older siblings. Agnes is a Reading High School graduate from the class of 1942. She was blessed with three sons, Levi, Jerry, and Leonard and was married to Thurman Snead which ended in a dissolution of marriage. She briefly lived in Kansas with her military husband.
Agnes worked at Reading Hospital in different roles including a Reading Hospital volunteer and housekeeping before taking on the role she would retire as a resolute family caretaker to a lovely family in Wyomissing.
Agnes remained an active parishioner at Washington Presbyterian church before leaving Reading and was involved with several ministries including Christian Concern, Presbyterian Women, and the church choir. She loved cats and enjoyed reading, cooking delicious meals, baking sweet treats, arts and crafts and spending quality time with her friends and family. She was proud of her native American heritage and often joked that she learned to speak French and often used the term, ‘je ne sais pas de quoi tu parles’ to let us know that she did not understand what we were talking about. She had an enthusiastic sense of humor and would often say that sweet red wine and dark chocolate were the keys to her longevity as both were good for you in small quantities.
Though she is no longer with us, the legacy of her love and wisdom will continue to guide us. Agnes is survived by her two living grandchildren, Tracy Roberts (Snead) & Marc Snead and the late Tanya Calloway (Snead); her great grandchildren: Travena C. Brown (Snead) wife of Michael G. Brown, Rashid T. Snead, Taylor C. Bailey, Leni K. Snead, Anthony S. Jackson S. & Judah S. Calloway and Kenneth M. Roberts III. Her beloved bonus great grandchildren: Shawn M. Oakman, Kenneth Carter Roberts and George W. Darby III. She also has five great great grandchildren, Tristan S., Tashan S. & Jeremiah S. Benitez, Julian K. Spann and Cierra L. Brown. As we say goodbye, we celebrate her extraordinary life and the immeasurable impact she had on each of us. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
A Home Going Service will be held at Washington Presbyterian Church, 715 N 10th St, Reading, PA 19604, December 5, 2025, at 11:00 am. Burial to follow in Berks County memorial Gardens. Online condolences may be made at www.theocauman.com for the Snead family.
