Alvin V. "Bug," Scott, 74, answered the call of our Lord Jesus Christ surrounded by family in the morning hours at Saint Joseph's Hospital September 22, 2025.
A time to be born
On February 8, 1951, in Brooklyn, New York, Alvin was the first child born to Ethel Mae Jenerette (Scott) and Leroy Thomas.
A time to live
Alvin attended school in the Reading School District, Northwest Junior High, Reading Senior High, and Penn State. Alvin was warmly known as "Bug."
A time to work
Alvin honorably serviced his country in the United States Army. He was also employed at various organizations )(Rural Postal Courier, United States Postal Service; Allied Security Guard)
A time to embrace
Alvin was a compassionate, loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, grandfather and most all, a dear friend to many. Alvin loved traveling, spending time with family and music (he was a member, "Incredible Soul Tec") at its time the best band in Reading "Cowboys to Girls".
A time to plant
Alvin accepted the Lord as his Savior under the calling from Christ and the leadership of Pastor Larry Burdine.
A time to love
Alvin leaves to carry on his dearest memories: wife Vanessa Key-Scott, Reading PA; step-father: Charles Jenerette, son Lonnie Forest, Vincent Williams (Diana), Phoenix, AZ; Quincy Scott-Key, Reading, PA; daughter Veronica Williams (Carmello) Plano, TX; Marissa Scott, Reading, PA; Alexis Scott, Reading, PA; brothers Garry Scott (Victoria), Reading, PA; Kevin Scott (Sandy) Reading, PA; Keith Scott, Reading, PA; David Scott (Maureen) Reading, PA; Traye Scott (Annette) Wesley Chapel, FL; Chad Scott Reading, PA; Vernon Thomas, Reading, PA; Brad Thomas, Reading, PA, Cornell Thomas, Temple, PA, sisters Hortense Scott (Ray) Lakeland, FL; Patricia VanLandingham (Juan), Reading, PA; 16 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by mother Ethel Mae Jenerette; wife Mary Ann Scott; brother Jeffrey Scott, Michael Scott and his, father Leroy Thomas.
A time to take God's hand
Alvin transitioned peacefully during the morning hours of September 22, 2025. Heaven responded to God's call, and angels descended to escort Alvin back to Him.
On behalf of the family, we would like to thank you for celebrating his home going.
A viewing for Alvin will be Saturday, 4 October 2025, from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM at Auman Funeral Home. Service will follow at 2:00pm.
Repass will follow the services at Riverside Volunteer Beneficial, 1742 Pear Street, Reading, PA 19601.
Inurnment will be Friday October 10, 2025 at 10 AM in Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, 60 Indiantown Gap Rd., Annville, PA 17003. Anyone wishing to attend may meet at the cemetery.
