Obituary of Amanda Tara Hopkins

IN THE CARE OF

Theo C. Auman Inc.

Amanda Tara Hopkins was born on September 21, 1980, to Viola E. Hopkins (Bowen) and the late James H. Hopkins Jr. in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. Amanda graduated from Muhlenberg High School in 1998. She attended Kutztown University and graduated from Berks Technical Institute Medical Assistant program. Amanda was a “sneaker head”, she collected dozens of sneakers in various colors; her favorite was the Nike AirMax ’90. She had the most amazing sense of humor and loved to make up words. She was an amateur photographer who loved to take pictures of her children and sunsets. She loved the Marvel movies, tattoos, poetry and stationery, particularly her journals. Amanda loved Busta Rhymes, music and dancing. Every time a song came on Amanda would start doing her favorite dance, the “tootsie roll.” Amanda valued friendships, so much so she regularly hung out with friends she’s had since kindergarten. Amanda leaves to mourn, the father of her children, Jerry Lee Parker and her precious children, Jenesis L. and Josiah L. Parker, who in her words are her “besties’. She also leaves behind seven sisters: Tina Matthews (Pennsylvania), Nancy McCaulay (Maryland), Tracey Davis (Virginia), Cynthia Hopkins (Delaware), Shannan Gordon (Brandon Sr.) (Pennsylvania), Dionne McRae (Pennsylvania) and Bennita Burkhart (Pennsylvania); three brothers; James H Hopkins III (Pennsylvania), Charles Hopkins Sr. (Pennsylvania) and Ollie R. Farmer (California). Amanda adored and will really be missed by her eight nieces: Nia, Eden, Ashley, Briana, Kaya, Tiffany, Aunlaje and Marcella, Adrianna, her 18 nephews: Shawn, Stephan, Christian, Tyler, Alan, Brandon Jr, Bryson, Quindon, Jaedon, Anthony, Tyler, Trent, Charles Jr. (Sarah), Terren, Andrew, James, Anthony, Kobe and Tajhae, as well as a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Her aunts Ruth Green, Barbara Saunders, Renae Bowen and Roberta Bowen will greatly miss her as will her bonus parents Gloria and Benjamin Bailey. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Mary Bowen, paternal grandparents, James and Willie Lee Hopkins, her maternal aunts, Evelyn Jones and Brenda Bowen, her maternal uncle, James Bowen, her brother Anthony Hopkins, and her nephew Saxxon L. Hopkins. Her infectious laugh, ear to ear smile, and overall outgoing energy will be missed. We love you Amanda and God loves you best!
