Barbara J. (Bell) McClary, 91, of Reading, passed away Friday, May 8, 2026, in St. Joseph Hospital after a lengthy illness. Barbara was predeceased by her husband Charles H. McClary who passed away on March 4, 2019. They were married for 44 years. Born in Thomasville, NC, a daughter of the late Mary (Epps) Bell and William Bell Sr.
Barbara attended schools in Philadelphia, PA, graduating from Simon Gratz High School. She was employed by Met-Ed where she retired with over 20 years working in the office. Barbara travelled extensively with her husband on over 20 cruises, bus trips and airplane to various places, like Alaska, Canada, Las Vegas, California, Chicago and the Caribbean for many years. She loved to visit family in Philadelphia and New Jersey, including them on her many trips and activities.
Barbara is survived by her nieces; Linda Smith and Ronda Chamberlain, 2 great nieces; Lynn Martin and Chadele Chamberlain and sister-in-law, Pearl Bell. Also survived by her husband's children; Stephanie Marshall who called daily, Jack Marshall and his wife Deborah, Darrell Marshall, Terri McClary and nephew, Ray Richardson and wife Linda who provided help and companionship when needed, and a host of family and friends.
Barbara was predeceased by her siblings; Pansy Reid, William Bell, Jr, Priscilla Alston and brother-in-law, Freeman Reid.

Graveside services for Barbara will be Tuesday May 19, 2026 at 12 noon in Berks County Memorial Gardens, 201 Evansville Rd Fleetwood, PA 19522, where her ashes will be interred with her husband. Theo C Auman Funeral Home, Reading is honored to be serving the family. www.theocauman.com
