Betty Jane Anders, 89, of Exeter Township passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Born in Reading, PA on March 24, 1934, she was a daughter to the late Alice (Walters) Williams and John Williams.
For over 30 years, Betty worked as a cashier for ACME Markets, until her retirement in 1983. She was of the Jehovah's Witness faith and a member of the Kingdom Hall, in Lorane.
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and lifelong animal lover, Betty took great pride in caring for her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed going on car rides and taking "the scenic route", reading the newspaper everyday (particularly the funnies), going out to eat and NO ONE loved chocolate more than Betty!
Betty possessed a great sense of humor, had a happy and loving spirit, wasn't one to raise her voice or get upset easily, she was kind to others as well as respected and admired by them; many attributes missing in this world today. She will be missed by all blessed enough to have known her.
Betty's spirit will be carried on by her son Dennis Anders and her daughter Jo Anne Anders. She also leaves behind 6 grandchildren: Aaron, Alison, Eric, David, Dustin, Cory and 8 great grandchildren: Ella, Megan, Mackenzie, Aubrey, Gracie, David, Tyler and Gavin to cherish her memory.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband James Anders.
A viewing for Betty will be held Thursday, September 28, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Auman's Inc. Funeral Home, 391 W. Neversink Rd., Reading, PA 19606. A graveside committal service will immediately follow at Aulenbach's Cemetery, 2050 Howard Blvd., Reading, PA 19606.
