Betty was born on February 10, 1921 in Reading, Pennsylvania, daughter of Ruth and John Schoffstall.
Betty was a classically trained pianist, having studied at the Conservatory in Philadelphia, PA, while in her teens, and at Julliard in New York City. She also played with the Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra in the early 1940’s, just before marrying and starting her family. Betty played at various churches in the Berks County area throughout her lifetime.
Betty married her sweetheart Clarence Charles Palm in September of 1943. They were married 56 years until Clarence’s death on January 27, 1999. Betty is predeceased by her first-born daughter Jane Ellen Palm, who we lost in August of this year.
Betty is survived by her only son James A. Palm, husband to Lydia Palm and her youngest daughter Melanie A. Iezzi, wife of Alfred Iezzi. She also leaves behind 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, and numerous loving friends.
Betty was employed in the offices of Sears and Roebuck for 28 years. She was a strong animal advocate and loved and cared for all creatures. Her generosity and kindness for others could be felt far beyond the arms of her family and the walls of their home.
