Charles "Charlie" Henry Potts, 85, of Exeter Township, entered eternal rest on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Berks Heim. Born in Reading, PA on September 8,1938, he was a son to the late Leon Venus Potts and Pearl M. (Reinert) Potts. In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his 2 brothers Harold and Leon Potts.
Charlie dedicated 20 years as a maintenance mechanic, last working at UGI Corp.; until his well deserved retirement.
A true car enthusiast, Charlie had a deep love for drag racing and antique cars, where he found joy in the speed, history, and craftsmanship of these classic machines. Known affectionately to many as the "Carb Whisperer" his talent for working on carburetors was unmatched. Friends and fellow car enthusiasts would often seek his expertise, knowing that if anyone could fix a tricky carburetor, it was Charlie.
He was also a man who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life; fishing trips, selling and discovering treasures at flea markets, and going to the casino to play slots with his beloved wife, Gloria. Handsome and confident, Charlie carried himself with a quiet strength that drew people to him. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, and was known for being a man of his word, someone you could always count on.
As a husband, father and grandfather, Charlie was nothing short of extraordinary. He had a unique way of showing his love, often through his actions rather than words. His children and grandchildren knew that, no matter what, he was there for them, always ensuring they were "ok" and prepared for life’s challenges. His pride in their achievements was evident, and he took great joy in watching them grow and succeed.
Charlie's life was a testament to the power of hard work, the importance of family, and dedication. Though he may no longer be with us, his memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed enough to have known him. May he rest in eternal peace.
Charlie's spirit will be carried on by his beloved wife of 64 years, Gloria A. (Folk) Potts; son Guy A. Potts; and daughter Denyne J. Tolley and her husband Jason. He also leaves behind 2 sisters Dolores & Dorothy; 3 grandsons Alexander, Bryce and Cameron Potts; 2 step-grandchildren Lucas and Lillian to cherish his memory.
A viewing for Charlie will be held Saturday, August 31, 2024 from 10AM to 11AM at Auman's Inc. Funeral Home, 390 W. Neversink Rd., Reading, PA 19606. Prayer service will promptly commence in the funeral home at 11 AM. Graveside committal will immediately follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton.
