Oh my Chris you came to me in a dream on the 20th, didn't speak but brought your blue suit with to show me, you gave ne 2 gits, one a pair of gold wired rim glasses, like the one Nana gave me that sit on the hall table, You were telling me you were with Nana, Also a beautiful large bottle that changed colors, Like my Alabaster jar with the tea light that changes colors, I put it on an pray with it , Mary washed the feet of our Lord by breaking the Alabaster jar leading up to his crucifixion, I now have NARD the perfume that was in it, I ordered it from Jerusalem it is an anointing oil, I know you came to comfort me because I was scared about all the medical tests and doc reports, Thank you son, only the second time you came in my dreams, Miss you, love you for eternity, mom

The weeks following your bday are  always a reminder to live fuller and be a spokes person for living wills.  Life is so fragile and we take it for granted.  Every single thing God allowed to pass thru  our lives was with purpose. He could have shielded us but HE  knew adversity makes us stronger, more insightful.. and if we obey His  word, more in tuned to  others instead of ourselves. This year in memory of YOU , I will embrace my ability to grow another year older, wiser, and fully recommit to  God and all He has done for Me and You…  Save me a seat!

I especially remember our last vacation with Kim in Virginia. That was some time at Mt. Vernon, Appomattox, and the picnic by the road, the church where George Washington had a pew,  the president's homes, and Jim's great cooking. I remember you saying you felt 20 years younger.

The hardest part writing this is NOT adding more memories... 
I think about how fun snap chat would be between us. I think about the intellectual conversions you'd have with Landon. The JOY you'd get from my pets. I have grown a lot in the last few years. I wish I could share with you. You talked about people getting right with God... Praise God Marlene was a "fisher of men" and hooked you. I shall spend the night remembering you and your all your snake pets escaping into my room to terrorizing me, the stick battles, sledding, the pool on Spruce Avenue, the sleep outs with the entire neighborhood under the stars. Boy have things changed. My kids barely get to walk anywhere alone. I have regrets, but only a few. I should have be present at all our family vacations while I was having my lil ones. I should have made it happen. Cape Cod and Miami time share. Its hard to put into words the kinship of siblings. The ache in your heart of something lost forever. I am just rambling now so I will just say Happy birthday in heaven Chris. May God greatly bless you. You are greatly missed and fondly remembered. I'll just chalk it up to "SMALL potatoes".. and live life enough for the two of us! Love you! sis

Tough day.. Saying goodbye to our cousin was bittersweet. Brought back pain of the loss of you. Far too soon.. Far too young, I recall times when things were simplier. Remincing over childhood photos when we didn't have a care in the world.. Gonna try really hard to heed the message shared today. May we not make our walk be soo complicated, rather simply just LOVE all those we meet, pour into the people divinely place into our path. Invest more in relationships, for these are eternal. However eternity presents itself, may we be spiritually prepared. I can't help wonder all you know of Gods glory and what you are experiencing. Miss you tons today.

As the season of Advent is upon us, we remember the biblical wise men following the star.

Entering into the magical world of childhood, we experience the awe and fantasy of the other world. Every culture has its own myths and enchanting stories.

Why is there a commonality among the cultures? Storytellers unite with the listener through the intuition of both partners capturing the collective consciousness of human thought. It began as oral tradition, humans telling the stories of life, the quest, the awe and the interconnectedness of life that is written on the human heart.

These ancient stories have been captured in books, film and other art forms dating back to the cave man, the Greeks and the early philosophers. From Aesop's Fables to Grimm's Fairy Tales, they often seek the magical and the mystical, reaching to the heavens, the sun, the moon and the stars as the dance of life unfolds.

Walt Disney captured in films the fairy godmother sprinkling magical dust transforming Cinderella into a beautiful princess, and Tinker Bell flitting around with a magic wand spreading fairy dust. In many of these old fables and fairytales conceived before the age of science and discovery, one has to ponder, has a concealed fragment of our minds always known that we came from the dust of stars? According to the late Morgan Freeman on the television science program Nova, there is some solid science behind this statement.

Almost every element on Earth was formed at the heart of a star. They owe their light to the heavens as gas released by nuclear fusion reactions at their core, the very same reactions which created chemical elements like carbon or iron  the building blocks which make up the world around us. The tips of my toes are made of the same matter as the tips of your toes and the tips of the mountaintops.

When a massive star explodes at the end of its life, the resulting high energy environment enables the creation of some of the heaviest elements, including iron and nickel. The explosion also disperses the different elements across the universe, scattering the stardust which now makes up planets including Earth. Stars contain the same basic elements or matter as our bodies do. This act of their complete destruction, a supernova, gives birth to the tiniest particles of planets and our life. The heavenly stars are the essence of what runs through our veins.

The ancient tradition of making a wish on a shooting star is the act of projecting our deepest of desires into the universe, just as the act of prayer unites Christians with the Creator. The Creation of all things including our Spirit is found in the creation story in the Judeo-Christian tradition, in the Old Testament, stories that were originally told through oral tradition inspired by the Holy Spirit. These varying accounts of our origins aren't necessarily mutually exclusive.

Did the wise men really follow that star? Is it strange to believe? We are a complex mixture of matter that evolved from one of the most extraordinary of things: stars.

Who did you celebrate Thanksgiving with this year?

My family had its Thanksgiving feast in Morgantown at my son's home. We had close to 20 people at the table.

We had the usual buffet of turkey, ham, filling, stuffing, gravy, sweet potatoes, mac and cheese, dried corn, asparagus, salad and the list goes on including the desserts.

But like some families we had the empty chair. My son Christopher died unexpectedly in March of 2012. I know many of us have lost grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, and other family members.

My daughter-in-law Gloria and her family had just come back from Arlington National Cemetery after burying her aunt, an Army Nurse.

It is the living and their thoughtfulness that share the empty chair and make it bearable.

My son lived on Treasure Island in Florida. He had many, many friends and a great love of reading surrounded by books. During his college years he was the bookkeeper at Florida International University.

He gave his friend Nikki Gall the book Treasure Island as a present one year.

When he passed Nikki was in Hong Kong teaching. She memorialized him by throwing flowers into the Sea of Thailand. She also put a message in a bottle that she gave to a local fisherman to send out with the tide. This brought me a sense of peace like Chris was now a global citizen.

So cool we got to do that for him. He would have loved the area! He loved the sea, Nikki wrote.

One of the favorite things she loved to do with Chris in Florida was sit with him on the terrace of his condo on the 14th floor and watch the moonlight dance and shimmer in the ocean below.

Time passed. Nikki got married and had a beautiful baby girl. She moved back after three years to San Francisco.

I got this message from her, I just got this book back from the shipment. He gave it to me. I'm going to write on it and put it in The Little Free Library in San Francisco. He will still be having adventures!

As only Nikki could, she found a new way to memorialize Chris.

I smiled this year when I looked at the empty chair, in the room filled with all my loved ones.

Sail on Chris. As Nikki says, you will still be having adventures. May all with an empty chair have a Nikki.

THANKFUL for a song I heard this morning on the way to school... it reminds of the precious gift my family was given during my brother's tragedy.. (Laura Story.. had it right) His surrender to Jesus.. seeing my Mom's amazing strength. She has always impressed me by her strength... she faced many challenges yet.. NEVER allowed herself to be someone's doormat..even if it meant being alone. HER greatest strength shined brightest thru my brother's death. SHE is always so forgiving and our biggest cheerleaders? At this same time, I witnessed my Father's weakness, the very same man that always taught us to work hard, to "get it together", be strong & be self reliant. It was soo important for us to see him vulnerable. He was "changed" thru that experience! Soo as I reflect on this song.. I can truly imagine.. Christopher Quaintance "flying to Jesus" and for THAT.. I AM THANKFUL.  PS.. go get a living will..or share with someone TODAY what your wishes are.. your loved ones will THANK YOU!

Chris, I am soo happy your memorial plaque was placed. Hurtful but helpful day. Time spent there with you was peaceful and pleasant. I love that your site backs up to the forest. While there.. a train pasted by in the distance, thx for the sign. AND that light thing you keep doing in Mom's bedroom.. GOOD ONE! I think about how you are doing now, how it feels to be in God's presence. The place God prepares of us most be glorious. I think of your Florida friends as they struggle with your absence. We had you for many years..They did too. My memories are fond and funny. Landon made Honors classes this year in Middle school.. please help him to succeed.  Both Julia & Landon have a love for music like you did.. to this I am grateful. A home with Music is a gift..thats for yours. AND humor... a gift you too attained. The best medicine is laughter. You have the BEST view for the Marlins, the Dolphins and the HEAT and all the concerts you ever want to attended. ENJOY! You'd be soo proud of Mom, she is back to writing.. It's great to see her do her passion. Dad is well.. still never stops.. project after project.. but seems to be slowing down a bit. We are all getting by, your loss was a lesson to many. Darren sharing your story of salvation at your funeral has reached many. He surely touched your "fish". TODAY I still get people approach me stating how moving his message was. All God's plan. Help him pursue his gift. He's great at "directing traffic" for GOD. Watch over us as an angel.  Til tomorrow.. RIP.

We chatted about you yesterday... still very hard to talk about you without tears. You know all now. I recall our sleep outs  under the stars playing kick the can on Spruce Avenue with the whole neighborhood. I wish my kids could live in a world like we did back then. Our own pool, moonlight swims at Antietam pool, the stick battles, sledding, the bus stop shed, the rec room downstairs.. FRED the St. Benard on the long line.. Duke and his box, the back patio, the ceiling coming down in the storm in the family room (Dad wasn't a fan), your bedroom with all built in cabinets.. I was so jealous of, sharing a phone with two lines (one for kids, one for parents).. and all the holidays with Gram, Pop Pop, Aunt Ester in the wheelchair & Nana & Aunt Susie. Tara Shannon and Kim babysitting us and the bee bee gun battle that got em in the heiny. Gram babysitting us in spite of not liking your snake friends. The coolest dutch door ever in the kitchen, the two sided fireplace and the FAMILY PIT! ALL the kids on Spruce Ave playing outside after dark...no facebook, cell phones and NO stranger danger! Life was goood.. thanks for the memories.. when you look back with gratitude.. you sure can see the blessings! Exactly how we will look back on this life on earth one day.. inspite of our earthly hurts and pains. Give all those who I love that went before me a hug!  Ask God to send the holy spirit to those who are still hurting greatly, so they can be restored and understand this is just such a small part of eternity.. God has prepared a beautiful place for us..until then protect us Chris.<3

I was down to visit the cemetery. I know you must be so happy with the statue of George Washington that overlooks your resting place. What a wonderul surprise that was when I saw him looking out over you after the funeral. That was a God moment. We just visited Mt. Vernon last year and also sat in his  pew in the church where Jim's mother is buried in Virginia, and you and Kim visited his grave at Mt. Vernon, what a mystery life is and how wonderful to get life's little surprises.

Chris,  I want you to know how good and kind your family has been to me. How they have embraced me and taken me under their wings. My love and friendship,  for you has always been unconditional. I attended your memorial with your friends /aquaintances at "Happy's," last night. Candice went with me. My heart is, so, heavy my sweet one. And, you know why this is. I ask for strength and fortitude as I grieve our loss of your physical presence.  I ask for God to give Sean, Cainan, Candice,  and myself the strength to accept that you are no longer with us. And, it being Easter, I Thank God for sacrificing his only son, Jesus,  for our salvation.  I love you. But, you have always known this.

The roller coaster of emotions begin.. I feel cheated to have not had your presence in my lift enough. Your "glass half full", "live life to the fullest, and kindness to all will be missed.

Dear Quaintance family, pls receive my condolences. Chris and I worked very closely during his tenure at Mercy Hospital, he was my right hand in many instances. Very dedicated, professional and reliable. I will remember him forever.

My sincere condolences to the Quaintance family, relatives, and friends.  I was shocked and saddened to learn of Chris's untimely passing.  He was a respected colleague, dependable, professional, and courteous, and possessed a droll sense of humor that was a welcome stress-buster in the Mercy Hospital Financial Services department.  May time and your rich memories ease the pain of your loss over time.

Chris,  Your biological family has become a part of my family now.  Although,  I have yet to accept the loss of you, I do know when I have been blessed.  I believe That I am to thank you for this.  I love you, sweetie.  xoxo

Dear Chris,
I echo the thoughts of all who knew you.  You lit up the room with your enthusiam, wit, infectious smile and love for life. I'm still checking my phone from time to time waiting for the next uniquely Chris text or e-mail. We all love you down here in Florida as they do in Pennsylvania and your presence is still felt among us.  You were an amazing person to count among my dear friends and also an amazing person to work with as we did for several years at Mercy Hopital.  You always gave everything to your work but never got mired in mindless detail - you understood your profession and its ends as well as anyone I have known. And you always maintained your sense of humor through everything. 

Its hard to know I won't get to talk to you again in this life but when I see a picture of you or just recollect you now and again it always takes me back to the many happy times I spent with you. Even if I never could get you to watch a game of soccer with me! Rest in peace my friend Chris. I'm sure heaven is a funner place with you there.

For Carol, Darren, Chris' dad and Kim (and all Chris' family that I haven't yet met) please accept my sincerest condolences. I know this will be a very difficult time for you and my thoughts are with you.  I can only say that Chris lived his life the way he wanted and said and did the things he wanted, believed in the things he believed in and put a smile on everyones face - I will always admire that in him.

Dear Chris,
You have impacted and touched so many lives. I vividly remember (well most of them depending on how altered we were!) all the concerts and games we've been to in the past. You have always been a happy and fun ray of sunshine - that is how I will remember you. Thanks for all the memories growing up and for being such a  great friend to my sister Kim, Joe and the boys. You are greatly missed already, peace and love with you and your family always.

Today I said good bye to my brother. I recalled fond memories of out time together. Snow sledding, stick battles, countless pets he loved, numberous instruments played, flash light tag & sleep outs in our childhood neighborhood. Bribing him for money to not tell Mom & Dad..:) He protected me in high school as a senior, while I was a mere freshman. Chased off boys interested in me, laughed with me during y-teen anitiations in halls & lunch room. His academics were a hard act to follow along the years as we had the same teachers. I relish in knowing we are similar in our passion for people, optimistic thoughts and sense of humor. But it is our call on the Lord for our eternal destination, that I find most comfort in. I am thankful to the Conways for the second family they were to him. I appreciate the companionships he had with all his friends. Your shared stories bring joy. My only regret is to have not gotten to Miami sooner.. his earthly home was gorgeous, but certain it holds no candle to heaven. We will be together there one day. My heart hurts, but rejoices knowing this is not goodbye, rather see you again in eternity. God's Grace and Mercy is adored today. My walk with gratitude today is supported by my being blessed to have a heavenly brother who watches over me now and an earthly one as well. My family can not express our appreciation enough to those who reached out to us in thought, prayer, words and deeds. Chris wanted to "fish" for Jesus, and  bring them to the Lord..I pray God's will is in line with this. Ask him into your heart today. God Bless.

It seems it was only yesterday that I came to know you and the two of us shared the same office at Mercy Hospital. I knew from the beginning that you were kind, generous and a person full of optimism. You were always supporting some worldwide politic cause or other and you constantly teased me about China. Sometimes your comments would challenge me and I would take you too seriously and respond with my own criticisms of the Amercian way. Sometimes would not talk to each other for days. But I do miss you and I do miss our discussions. You worked very hard for every assignment and you undertook every task with energy and purpose. I respected and admired you and I was very fortunate to have worked with you. You were more than a colleague. You were a dear friend and I will never forget you. May your soul forever rest in perfect peace.

I am deeply sad and empty, due to the loss of my dear friend and adopted family member. Chris has given me so much joy, laughter, and love over the past eight years.  I was fortunate to have had him in my life, virtually, on a daily basis.  I do not even know how to begin to express what a tremendous loss this is to all of our Miami-North Bay Village family.  Chris, also known to us as Skippy, was an amazing man, who enjoyed life to the fullest and always made us smile, no matter what.  I can only grieve for him now and recall the wonderful memories.  His ringtone is now silent; there will be no social hour tonight or tomorrow. I will try to grasp why our beautiful friend was taken from us so suddenly, when he still had so much laughter and love to give all of us. Chris will be forever missed and forever in our hearts. As my twin sister Beth and I hung out with Lori we were always would get teased from Chris and of course he did it in his unique way that he had about him but he would always then apologize. The last time I saw Chris he saw me and came over and gave me a hug and said "I guess you think I don't know which one you are but I do and you are Sue"and of course I laughed and then we chatted for awhile sharing some of those early memories.

 Since I heard the news of Chris going to be the Lord, I have been thinking back to when Lori and I were young and Chris would tease us about everything and anything, we had some good laughs. I also remeber walking by Chirs's room and he would be listening to the Rolling Stones, The Police, Zepplin, Rush, etc...  My thoughts and prayers are with the Quaintance family during this time of sorrow.God Bless all of you
