Claire Lucia Huey

Claire Lucia (Yerger) Huey, 98, of Wyomissing passed away in The Highlands at Wyomissing on Saturday, March 3, 2018. She was the wife of the late Harold T. “Tom” Huey.

Born in Sinking Spring on January 22, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Earl B. and Francis M. (Riegel) Yerger. She was a member of Holy Spirit Lutheran, Reading.

Claire was employed with Garrett-Buchanan Company for 25 years as a bookkeeper. Prior to that, she was employed for several years with JC Ehrlich Pest Control as a bookkeeper. She was an avid reader and liked to sew and knit. She loved the opera. She enjoyed her friends and playing cards with them at The Highlands.

Surviving are her two children: John R. Blessing and his wife, Mary of Reading and Lynda A. (Blessing) Ball and her husband, Stanley “Stan” of Inverness, FL; a stepdaughter: Linda (Huey) Roberts of St. Augustine, FL; three grandchildren: James M. Ball and his wife, Roberta of Sinking Spring, Susan L. (Ball) Johnston of Telluride, CO and Ann Marie C. (Ball) Chadwell and her husband, Michael of Avon, CO; six great grandchildren: Todd, Jessica, Stephanie, Christian, Cameron and Madison; two great great children: Grace and Joshua Ball and a sister, Nitzi P. (Yerger) Coldren and her husband, Richard of Shillington.

In addition to her parents, and her husband, Claire is predeceased by her siblings: Lavona (Yerger) Stout, Gladys M. (Yerger) Brown, Marlin M. “Bud” Yerger and Dean C. Yerger.

Services were private and under the direction of Theo C. Auman Funeral Home, Reading. Claire was entombed with her husband, Tom in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reading.
