

Clinton H. “Sonny” Sayers, Jr., 75, of Reading, passed away Tuesday night, March 5, 2013 at the Reading Hospital and Medical Center. He was the loving husband of Mary L. (Heimbach) Sayers. The couple married on April 18, 1959.
Born in Reading on November 18, 1937, he was the son of the late Clinton H., Sr. and Janet (Kennedy) Sayers. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Sonny was employed with the Reading Fairgrounds Racetrack, All Star Distribution and Weis Markets. He was a member of Community Evangelical Church.
Sonny was a member of retired Local 429 Teamsters, Hunter Ligget VFW Post 38 as Past Commander, Beneficial Society Victor Emmanuel II, Rainbow Fire Company as Past President, R.M. Butterwick Detachment Marine Corp League, Goodwill Fire Company in Hyde Park and Northeast Gun Club. He loved casinos, traveling and fishing.
In addition to his wife, Mary, Sonny is survived by three children, Scott A. Sayers and his wife, Tina of Sinking Spring, Diane L. Born and her husband, Kent of Temple and Brian L. Sayers and his wife, Ann of Womelsdorf; six grandchildren, Tara Morris and her husband, Jesse, Chris Sayers, Anthony Born, Matthew Born, Cody Sayers and Jordan Sayers; a brother, Gene Sayers, Sr. of Blandon and many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by a sister, Carole Sayers.
A funeral service will be at 11:00am on Saturday, March 9, 2013 in Theo C. Auman Funeral Home, 247 Penn St., Reading, PA 19601. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reading. Family and friends will be received in the funeral home Friday from 5 to 8:00pm and Saturday from 10 to 11:00am.
