Dorothy Y. Kemp, 95, of Whitfield, went to be with the Lord on February 8th, 2024. Born in Reading, PA on October 17, 1928. She was married to Russel W. Kemp on August 7, 1948. Russel died on October 5, 1986. She was the daughter of the late Lewis G. and Marquerite (Stock) Yost.
Dorothy graduated from Reading High School in 1946. She was a member of West Lawn United Methodist Church. Dorothy was a legal secretary for 45 years. She was honored as Secretary of the year for Berks County, in 1974 and Secretary of the year for the state of Pennsylvania, in 1975.
Dorothy enjoyed knitting, puzzles and years of bowling with the Green Valley Country Club Bowling League and loved her family. Family and Friends remember her by her wit and sense of humor, leaving a lifetime of memories. She also loved her weekends at the Bay, in Maryland.
Dorothy is survived by a son, Michael A. Kemp, of Reinholds, PA and a daughter, Susan L. Wickman, of Florida. Other survivors are 3 grandchildren - M. Alaxandria Kemp, Kelly A. Pawling, and Kevin P. Wickman; 2 great grandchildren, Landon P. Pauling and Reese Pawling, and 2 nieces Ann Levan and Deborah Turner. She was predeceased by a sister Margaret A. Turner.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Monday, February 19, 2024 from 10 AM to 11 AM at Auman's Inc. Funeral Home, 390 W. Neversink Rd., Reading, PA 19606. Funeral services will promptly commence in the funeral home at 11 AM. Graveside committal will immediately follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton.
