Dorothy Dean Washington

Dorothy Dean Washington, 93, of Reading, received her wings in heaven on December 20, 2016 in Manor Care Sinking Spring surrounded by her loving family. Her husband, Allen C. Washington, passed away in 1999.

Born in Lincolnton, Ga. on July 1, 1923 she was a daughter of the late Will and Leola (Kennedy) Garnett.

She was a member of Union Baptist Church where she loved to usher. Dorothy enjoyed going to Family First Center and being with her friends.

She is survived by her daughter Marlene Boyd of Reading, daughter-in-law Loretta Boyd of Reading, 2 sisters; Reaver Glaze and Mary Glimp, wife of Rev. Ernest Glimp Jr., all of Reading; 1 brother Nathan Hogan of Elmsford, N.Y., 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and 1 great great-grandchild. Dorothy was predeceased by her son, David Boyd, 4 sisters, and 5 brothers.

A Celebration of Life Service will be Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at 11 a.m. in Union Baptist Church, 211 Schuylkill Ave., Reading. Burial to follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. A viewing will be 9-11 a.m. in the church.
