Emilia Martinez, 91, of Reading, PA, entered eternal rest on January 31, 2026, at her residence. She was born in San Sebastián, Puerto Rico, on August 5, 1934, to the late Guadalupe Martinez and Ursula Rivera. In addition to her parents, she was reunited in heaven with her sons, Jose Santiago and Alex (Picho) Santiago.
Emilia was a devoted housewife for most of her life and a member of St. Peter the Apostle Church. She remained active throughout her life and loved walking wherever she could. Emilia had a deep love for animals of all kinds, but she especially cherished her puppy, Nivea.
A woman of great strength and character, Emilia was responsible, caring, and deeply lovable. Her spirit and love will continue through her children: sons Alex A. Santiago and Amircal Santiago, and daughters Areliz Martinez, Lidiana Santiago, Jazmin Santiago, and Johanne Santiago; and her sister Matilde Martinez Ortiz.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at Auman’s Inc., 390 W. Neversink Rd., Reading, PA 19606. A prayer service will begin promptly at 1:15 p.m. in the funeral home, with Monsignor John J. Grabish officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Charles Evans Cemetery, 1119 Centre Ave., Reading, PA 19601.
