

Born in Peñula, Puerto Rico, on May 28, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Pedro Pablo DeJesus and Emilia Borrero Aponte.
Emma was a very strong, welcoming woman. She had a big heart and was always happy. Emma had open arms to everyone and liked to help others. She loved hanging out of the second floor window in her house to see everybody and know what was happening on her street. She was so excited to share these stories with her family. Emma is deeply loved and will truly be missed. The family knows she is now watching over them.
Surviving are her six children: Milagros Madera, Julio Madera, Joeset Madera, Jose Madera, Annabeth Madera and Margarita Rivera; 15 grandchildren: Edwardo, Vicente, Milagros, Marisol, Heriberto, Rosa, Joel, Raul, Julbeth, Julio Jr., Evelyn, John "Mikey," Jose, Nery and Alex; 33 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her 7 siblings: Librada Dejesus, Josefina DeJesus, Eliza Vargas Borrero, Efrain DeJesus, Ramiro DeJesus, Benjamin DeJesus and Adam DeJesus.
Emma is predeceased by her parents; her husband, Brigido Madera; her daughter, Luz Heidi Madera; and four siblings.
Prayer services for Emma will be Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 10 a.m. in Theo C. Auman Funeral Home, 247 Penn St., Reading, PA 19601. Family and friends will be received in the funeral home on Thursday, March 30th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and again on Friday, March 31st from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Emma will be laid to rest in Greenmount Cemetery, Philadelphia. Rest in peace, Sweet Emma.
