Grace "Gracie" Bernice Carpenter

After much thought and deliberation, Gracie at the age of 104, has decided to embark on a new adventure. She will be joining her husband Al on the Pacific Coast. She and Al had discussed this quite a bit. However, Gracie was reluctant to leave her kids. grand kids, great grand kids, and great great grand kid. Finally Al said enough talk, it is time to go. So she did. Have a safe trip Grammy. She was born in Allentown on October 12, 1914 a daughter of the late Frederick and Alice (Dannecker) Shiffert. Gracie took great pride in caring for her patients as an LPN and she lived independently until she reached the age of 103. She raised her children on a dairy farm and spent 20 glorious years in the state of Washington. She came home to be with her children and grandchildren and was passionate about football, baseball, crossword puzzles, and reading. Surviving are her children: Alfred Burt Jr and his wife Arlene of Vista, CA., Jeffrey Michael and his wife Cindy Carpenter of Shoemakersville, Ellen L and her husband Stephen H Ingraham of Mohrsville, Linda Rauch of Covington, KY., 12 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandson. Gracie was predeceased by 4 grandchildren: Michael S., Andrew, Stephen A., Gregory and her daughter, Jean. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Contributions may be made to Multiple Melanoma Foundation or a charity of one's choice. Theo C Auman Funeral Home, Reading is honored to serve the family.
