Harry Jordan Rittenhouse, III, 86, died peacefully on Wednesday, November 3, 2021. He was the loving husband of the late Joy M. Hartley Rittenhouse. He had been residing at Grand View Manor of Fleetwood, Pa., where he enjoyed completing jigsaw puzzles and taking walks in and around the scenic property.
Harry was born in Reading, Pa. to parents Harry Jordan Rittenhouse, Jr. and Catherine Elizabeth Flayhart.
He was a life member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, and the Mohnton Fish & Game Protective Association which is dedicated to the shooting sports, wildlife conservation, and other outdoor activities. Harry and Joy enjoyed cruising across the Atlantic Ocean on the Queen Elizabeth II to England and Scotland, as well as shorter runs to Bermuda and the Caribbean.
Harry served in the U.S. Army from May 1958 through May 1960, with one year in Foreign Service in Korea. He earned a Good Conduct Medal for his honorable service.
Prior to retirement, he worked as a quality control technician at The Boeing Company.
He is survived by his step-grandchildren, Vicki Brown, Debi Sarandrea, and Steve Allender, and his nephews, Thomas, Gary, and Timothy Rittenhouse. He is predeceased by his brother Lee C. Rittenhouse, and his nephew David Rittenhouse.
Harry’s final resting place is at the Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reading, Pa., beside his loving wife, Joy.
