His wife of 72 years, Emily C. (Casantini) Vilardo passed away on November 1, 2016.
Born in Reading, Harry was a son of the late Samuel and Minnie (Nigrelli) Vilardo
Harry was employed as a Machine Setter by the former AT&T, Reading for 22 years, retiring in 1987. Prior to that he worked at the former American Chain and Cable Company.
Harry was an Army veteran of World War II and was a member of Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, Reading. He was an avid bowler for over 50 years and had a passion for outer space and astronomy. Harry was an exercise enthusiast and a former diver and swimmer. He and his wife often joked they always won the “who’s married the longest” contest at most every wedding they attended.
Harry is survived by his two daughters, Elaine B., wife of David Aulenbach of Mount Joy and Jean M., wife of David P. Texter of Washington Boro. He is also survived by his brother Frank Vilardo of Flying Hills and his sister, Dorothy Speece of Mohnton. Harry is also survived by his grandchildren, Alecia wife of Michael Flynn of Catonsville, Maryland, Benjamin Aulenbach of Centreville, Virginia, Christopher Texter of Conshohocken, Michael Texter of Los Angeles, California and Philip Texter of Washington Boro. He is also survived by his great grandson Owen Flynn. He was predeceased by a brother Michael Vilardo in 1996.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Harry on Monday, August 13, 2018 at 10:00 am in Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 237 Franklin Street, Reading. Pa. 19601. Interment will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery Mausoleum. Friends and family may view on Sunday from 6:00-8:00 pm and on Monday from 9:00-9:45 am in the Theo. C. Auman Funeral Home, 247 Penn Street, Reading, Pa. Harry requested no flowers and instead requested any contributions in his memory be made to the church at the above address.
