

Helen was born in Forfar, Angus, Scotland on October 18, 1920.
Her father immigrated to the United States in 1925 arriving in New York City aboard the S. S. Baltic on March 4th. Helen, her brother and mother immigrated to the United States in 1927 arriving in Boston aboard the S. S. Celtic on January 21st. The family settled in Manchester-By-The-Sea, MA for 4 years and later moved to Medfield, MA for 11 years. Helen graduated from Hannah Adams Pfaff High School June 17, 1938. On January 17, 1941 she graduated from the Fisher Business School in Boston where she completed Executive Secretarial and Book Keeping programs. While in Medfield she met Reverend Howard Millman Weaving and they were married on August 15, 1943. Howard received his first call to serve as pastor of The First Presbyterian Church in Framingham, MA in May 1946. In 1950 they were called to the Fort Schuyler Presbyterian Church in the Bronx, New York City. They were both quickly recognized as caring, devoted ecumenical leaders in the community. They planned and implemented building Fort Schuyler House to provide affordable, safe, attractive housing for seniors. Helen became the first Chief Financial Officer for this facility to be sure it started off just right. They opened the doors to a 140-apartment complex in 1973 called Fort Schuyler House and it is still going strong today in the Throggs Neck section of the Bronx, NYC. When they retired, Helen and Howard wintered at their home in Tarpon Springs, FL and summered at their cottage in Sagamore Beach, MA. In her spare time Helen loved gardening, cooking, tennis, ceramics, needlecrafts, bike riding, traveling and hiking.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Reverend Howard Millman Weaving, her parents, William Ferguson Stark, Sr. and Janet Pullar Cook Stark, her brother and sister, William Ferguson Stark, Jr. and Margaret Ann Crum.
Helen was a loving and adored wife, mother of three: Elizabeth Lananna and husband Vincent of Eugene, OR, Janet Barbato and husband Eugene of Annapolis, MD, William Weaving and wife Sandra of Downingtown, PA; grandmother of eight: Heather Dehn and husband Joseph of Danvers, IL, Kristen Farmer and husband Brian of Hoschton, GA, Jonathan Weaving and wife Jackie of O’Fallon, IL, Allison Sheaffer and husband Nathaniel of Dillsburg, PA, Alexander Barbato of Annapolis, MD, Alissa Barbato and husband Michael Kochis of Rockville, MD, Brian Lananna and wife Valerie of Webster Groves, MO and Scott Lananna of Detroit, MI; and great grandmother of ten: Blake and Jeremy Dehn, Tyler, Wesley and William Farmer, Lincoln, Colten and Morgan Weaving and Brian and Elimaya Helen Lananna.
A memorial service will be held at the Tel Hai Chapel, Tel Hai Retirement Community, Honey Brook, PA on December 27, 2017. Visitation with family and friends will be from 1 PM until 2 PM. The service will begin at 2 PM.
