Jan Dell Steiger, 82, of Newmanstown, PA entered eternal rest on Thursday, February 18, 2021. Born August 10, 1938 in Reading, PA he was the son to the late John M. Steiger and Vivien E. (Brown) Steiger.
Jan worked as a mechanic for Glidden paints for 34 years, retiring in 2002.
Jan was the ultimate motorhead. He enjoyed tinkering in the garage, working on cars and had a deep appreciation for anything mechanical. His ability to fix anything imaginable was extraordinary as he was a true "Mr. Fixit". Jan also loved to go camping with his wife Donna. They spent numerous summers at Eagle's Peak Campground, Robesonia.
Throughout his life, Jan had many pets, and was a true animal lover. He loved all his dogs, cats and love birds, but he especially loved his sassy cat 'Princess'. Additionally, Jan enjoyed playing BINGO daily on Facebook, watching NASCAR and he was a really good cook.
Jan's spirit will be carried on by his son Jan D. Steiger Jr., of Lancaster, PA; daughter Janelle Dietrich and her husband Paul Dietrich III, of Mohrsville, PA; son-in-law William Dietrich, husband of the late Nancy Dietrich, of Reading; 3 brothers Jon Steiger, Jonathan Steiger,Timothy Steiger, 2 sisters Gretchen Corolla and Michele Shannon. Jan also leaves behind 3 grandchildren Jessica Steiger; Heather Kaufmann; Paul Dietrich IV; 7 great grandchildren Desirae Mitchell; Lucas Kaufmann; Avery Dietrich; Declan Dietrich; Bryan Vargas; Jaciel Vargas and Angela Velazquez to cherish his memory.
In addition to his parents, Jan was greeted in heaven by his beloved wife Donna (Croston) Steiger; 2 daughters Robin Steiger and Nancy Dietrich; brother Michael Steiger; 2 sisters Sharon Gensley and Lynne Grant; and 2 granddaughters Billie-Jo Dietrich and Jana Vargas.
A viewing for Jan will be held Saturday, February 27, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, at Auman's Inc. Funeral Home, 390 W. Neversink Rd, Reiffton. Funeral service will commence at 12:00 PM, in the funeral home with Dr. Rev. Robert Aregood officiating. Burial will immediately at Forest Hills Memorial Park, 391 W. Neversink Rd, Reiffton.
