Born in Allentown, PA, on October 30, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Cleon George Alvin Schmoyer and Mary Mabel (Miller) Schmoyer.
In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Carraghan; her son, Charles Carraghan; and her sisters, Susan Schmoyer and Shirley Ann Remmel.
A graduate of Parkland High School, Class of 1960, Jane went on to dedicate more than 40 years of her career to data entry at Rodale Press in Emmaus.
Jane loved her dogs and rarely met one she didn't want to spoil. She could often be found with a crossword puzzle in hand, a Stephen King novel nearby, and Elvis playing in the background. She was also an exceptional baker whose vanilla cake, Christmas cookies, and homemade kiffles became family favorites.
Jane was old school in the very best sense of the phrase, and family always came first. She was feisty, quick-witted, and never afraid to tell you exactly what she thought, but beneath that strong personality was a heart full of love and devotion for the people she cared about most.
Jane's spirit will be carried on her sons, Thomas Carraghan and his wife, Rosemarie, and David Carraghan and his wife, Lisa; her brothers, Robert Schmoyer and Cleon Schmoyer and his wife, Cindy; her grandchildren, Corbin, Jennifer, and Cierra; and her two great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held at Trexler Funeral Home, 1625 Highland Street, Allentown, PA 18102, on Friday, June 26, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., followed by a prayer service at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home, officiated by Chaplain Albert Martin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lehigh Valley Humane Society and Veterinary Clinic, 640 Dixon Street, Allentown, PA 18103, in recognition of Jane’s lifelong love of dogs and the joy they brought her throughout her life.
