Jerry Ellison, 85, of Reading, Pennsylvania transitioned to be with his Savior and Lord on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Dorothy M. (Piper) Ellison. Jerry was born in Shiloh,GA., on June 19, 1936 a son of the late Willie, Sr., and Rosa (Fuller) Ellison.
He was an Air Force Veteran and was employed by Berks Packing as a meat smoker for 36 years retiring there and at the same time, owned and operated Ellison TV Service on South Fifth. Jerry was a faithful and loyal member of New Hope Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and also played bass and guitar. He played guitar for Crowns of Israel in Reading for 25 years and recorded an album. Jerry and his wife, Dorothy, pastored Hope of Glory Ministries from 2007-2019. He was an outstanding gentleman and provider, as well as husband, father, brother and pop-pop.
Also surviving are his 3 daughters; Michelle Duncan, Diane Jallow, Andrea Simmons, all of Reading, brother, Clifford Ellison and his wife, Quay, of Reading, sisters; Corrine Willis of VA., Rose Bolton of Exeter, 7 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren with one on the way. A host of relatives and close family friends.
A viewing for Jerry will Saturday, December 4, 2021 from 9:00 AM -10:00 AM at New Hope Baptist Church, 621 Church Street, Reading, PA 19601. A Celebration of Life Service will be Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 10:00 AM, in the church. Burial to follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park.
