She was a beloved mother, devoted grandmother and treasured friend to many whose paths she crossed. Born in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Jessie (Clacher) Van Dam. She was married to the late Galen D. Ringler of Birdsboro for 30 years.
She was a longtime customer service representative at Raylon Beauty Supply in Reading until she retired in 1977, due to a disabling illness. Despite these disabilities, she created a rich, full life for herself as a resident of B'nai B'rith in Reading, as a longtime member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church on 11th Street, and as a mother and grandmother.
She loved trivia games, Sunday School, and travels with family. She helped tutor children after school as part of a community outreach program by Grace Church and delivered meals to her B'nai B'rith neighbors for Meals on Wheels.
She is survived by four children: Brian D. Ringler, husband of Pamela Minto, of Blandon; Heather L. Uczynski, wife of Tony Uczynski, of Leesport; Gale E. Martin, wife of William L. Martin, of Lititz; and Ross G. Ringler, husband of Benja (James) Ringler, of Decatur, Alabama. She had four grandchildren: Paige, Johnna, Liam and Dan. Over the years, she "adopted" numerous family members, often her children's friends, who will all dearly miss her.
A memorial service will be held at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 33 South 11th Street, Reading, PA, on Saturday, July 2 at 10:30 a.m. Friends and relatives may call at the Church after 9:30 a.m.
Interment will be private at a later date.
