John Robert Blessing

John R. Blessing, 87, of Reading, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2026. He was a beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend who will be remembered for his kind heart, his generous spirit, and the smile he so often carried on his face.

John was the son of the late Claire L. Yerger and Robert K. Blessing, and the late Mary L. Blessing. He is survived by his sister, Lynda A. Ball, his nephew, James Ball; and his nieces, Susan Johnston and Ann Marie Chadwell. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Throughout his life, John held many different jobs, including working at a bakery, for BARTA Bus Company, and as a cobbler's assistant. He took pride in his work and in being helpful to those around him.

John found joy in life’s simple pleasure, especially time spent with family and friends. A true sports enthusiast, he enjoyed following his favorite sports teams and spending an occasional afternoon at the casino. He had a lifelong love of learning and treasured the many friendships he made through his church. Above all, John was a friend to everyone, always ready to lend a helping hand and happy to do whatever he could for the people he cared about.

John's warm smile, friendly nature, and caring heart touched the lives of many. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

His memory will live on in the kindness and friendship he shared with others.

A public viewing will be held on Monday, October 5th, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Auman Funeral Home Inc., located at 391 W. Neversink Road, Reading, PA 19606. A committal service will follow promptly across the street at Forest Hills Memorial Park Cemetery.
